PURPOSE:To obtain a moving picture storage memory with an optimum configuration capable of distinguishing each pattern and proper to store many moving pictures and still pictures by providing plural sub memory arrays storing picture data by one pattern among consecutive picture data and a sub array selection means in the display device. CONSTITUTION:A memory cell array 6 is divided into plural sub memory arrays 9-14. Each of the sub memory arrays 9-14 is sequentially selected by an output of a frame selection signal generating section 5 to store each one frame of a moving picture to be stored sequentially to each of the sub memory arrays 9-14. The frame selection signal generating section 5 incorporates a count circuit, which is controlled by a vertical synchronizing signal as a counter increment signal. Furthermore, a data input output section 1 is controlled for read and write with a write control signal received from a write control signal input terminal 16 and data are received and outputted in matching with a system clock frequency.
