PURPOSE: To prevent deterioration of electric characteristics of a liquid crystal display element and orienting characteristics of a liquid crystal by using tertiary amine compd. in a specified proportion as an alkali compd. in a developer for a radiationsensitive resin compsn. ;CONSTITUTION: A radiation-sensitive compsn. is applied to an oriented liquid crystal film on a substrate, exposed through a specified pattern, and developed to partly protect the liquid crystal oriented film. The liquid crystal oriented film in the exposed area is oriented in a different direction from the initial orientation and the radiation-sensitive compsn. is removed. In this process, development is performed in an aq. soln. containing a tertiary amine compd. by an amt. between 1wt.% and ≤5wt.%. When the concn. of the tertiary amine compd. soln. is ≤1wt.%, enough development of the radiation-sensitive compsn. is not performed. If the concn. exceeds 5 wt.%, electric characteristics of the obtd. liquid crystal display element may be lost. The radiation-sensitive compsn. contains a radiation-sensitive product and a polymer containing unsatd. carboxylic acid anhydride.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
