PURPOSE: To eliminate a cause for an uncontrollable punching action during high-speed punching by applying a damping pulse for removing the kinetic energy from a moving member to a primary stator coil during the bounce of the moving member. ;CONSTITUTION: A system is adjusted at an operation point where the contact between an annular disk 18 and a primary stator coil 22 starts to occur. For this adjustment, the kinetic energy for forming an punched opening on a workpiece is applied to a punch body 14' by a stroke control device 62 to apply the drive pulse width. The drive pulse width is correspondingly adjusted by a punch rate control device 64 so that the bounce of the downward punch stroke occurs to increase the operating speed. The drive pulse is controlled via a fine adjustment of the damping pulse width by a drive circuit 20 including a damping drive circuit 20', thereby a cause for an uncontrollable punching action during high-speed punching can be eliminated.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
