PURPOSE: To obtain a cavity filling material suitable as a substitute for mercury amalgam, by forming porous metallic sponge by heating a composite forming material comprising, particles of a metal with low melting point, and specific concentration of a wax binder. CONSTITUTION: A metallic composite material comprising particles of a metal with high melting point, particles of a metal with low melting point, and concentration of at least 30 vol.% a wax binder is formed and filled into a prescribed position of a cavity 8 of a tooth 10 to form a forming composite material suitable for the structure contour of the cavity 8. Then the forming composite material is taken out form the cavity 8 and heated at a temperature lower than the melting point of the particles of the metal with high melting point to volatilize the wax to form porous metallic sponge with a void volume over 30%. A filling material is added to the porous metallic sponge to fill the voids and, next, the solidified structure is cemented with the cavity 8 of a tooth 10.
