PURPOSE: To easily and completely prevent cause of line flaws of a hot rolled stainless steel strip within the restriction range of the schedules of a hot rolling stage without increasing the production cost. ;CONSTITUTION: The surface roughness RMAX(μm) of a stainless steel slab in production of the hot rolled steel strip to be hot rolled after heating of this slab at 1100 to 1350°C corresponds to the equation expressed by the heating temp. (°C) of the slab: RMAX-0.6×T+840. In such a case, the discharge pressure P of hot rolling and rough descaling water is so controlled that the impingement pressure p(kgf/cm2) of the hot rolling and rough descaling water against the hot rolled material as expressed by the equation p=0.05757×(Q/A)1.08×P by the flow rate Q(l/min) of the hot rolling and rough descaling water, the impingement area A(cm2) against the hot rolled material and the discharge pressure P(kgf/cm2) of the hot rolling and rough descaling water satisfies the equation p≥{RMAX-(-0.6×T+840)}/3.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
