PURPOSE: To obtain the working jig for valve spring having excellent wear resistance and capable of maintaining high lubricity for a long time by containing a hard substance of diamond, etc., for the contacting part with valve spring material and having the specific surface roughness thereof. ;CONSTITUTION: On a silicon substrate 6 having a surface roughness of ≤1μm, a diamond layer 5 of a thickness of several tens μm is formed by a vapor phase synthesis method. Further, it is cut into a size of V groove of jig's base material by YAG laser 7, the silicon substrate is dissolved/removed in hot concentrated aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide a single body sheet of diamond quality is obtained. This sheet is vacuum brazed on the inside surface of V groove with using a brazing filler metal so that the original silicon substrate 6 side is the new surface. At this time, a surface roughness of diamond quality sheet is transferred from the original substrate's surface roughness, turning to ≤1μm of RMAX. When a sintered compact is used for a hard material, a content of diamond and/or cubic boronnitride exceeds 50vol%.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
