PURPOSE: To provide a motor starter relay, which by using a resistance element having a positive resistance temperature coefficient, enables suppression of power consumption in resistance element during the rotation of a motor to a very low level and to rapidly cool a resistance element, in order to reset the relay quickly in preparation for the restart of the motor after the interruption of its rotation. ;CONSTITUTION: This relay consists of a resistor 2 made of a material which has a positive resistance temperature coefficient and whose resistance increases sharply when heated to a selected temperature level or higher, a pair of contact devices 4, 5, 6, 7 of a resilient, conductive metal which electrically contacts respectively both surfaces at opposing sides of the resistor 2 for connecting it to the start windings of a motor in series, and a container 1, made of a heat-insulating material, storing the resistor and contact devices.
