PURPOSE: To provide a glass for discrimination code pattern formation and the formation of the glass which can accurately form a discrimination code pattern after the completion of a product, etc., and is applicable to small-lot articles and reducible in cost. ;CONSTITUTION: Glass 12 containing TiO⁴⁺ is laminated on an alumina substrate 11, and a barrier layer 13 of SiO₂ is laminated thereupon. On the barrier layer 13, glass 14 containing a component reducing Ti⁴⁺ is laminated and irradiated with laser light. Consequently, the glass materials 12 and 14 at the laser light irradiated part are fused and mixed to change into a dark color.
