PURPOSE: To obtain a PVA-based pinning dope having a high degree of saponification required to improve hot water resistance from a PVA having an ordinary degree of saponification by dissolving an alkali component in a solvent and/or the PVA in dissolving the PVA in a solvent. ;CONSTITUTION: In preparing a spinning dope by dissolving a PVA in a solvent (dimethyl sulfoxide), and alkali component (NaOH or KOH) is dissolved in the solvent and/or the PVA. The amount of the alkali component added is preferably 0.8-1.3 equivalents based on the remaining acetyl amount of the PVA so that the degree of saponification can sufficiently be increased and the amount of the remaining alkali component can be reduced.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
