PURPOSE:To obtain a carrier which can support microorganisms at a high concn. and is suitable for soil restoration, etc., by forming a surface capable of adsorbing microorganisms on the surface of a three-dimensional network structure having many interconnecting pores. CONSTITUTION:A three-dimensional network structure with many interconnecting pores with diameters of the order of mum or higher is produced, e.g. by mono- or biaxially orienting a polymer material (e.g. polycarbonate or cellulose acetate). On the surface of the structure is formed a surface which can adsorb microorganisms, thus giving a carrier for supporting microorganisms. The adsorbent surface is formed by producing the structure from a material which can adsorb microorganisms or by making the surface of the structure affinitive for microorganisms electrostatically or by hydrophilicity. The obtd. carrier is caused to support microorganisms for soil restoration (e.g. Pseudomonades) to give a microbial agent for soil restoration.
