PURPOSE: To provide a coating device capable of removing and recovering an excess paint oozed out from both edges of a strip without depositing it on a backup roll. ;CONSTITUTION: A slit nozzle 1 having an opening 1a wider than a strip 50 is opposed to the part (b) where the strip 50 is out of contact with a backup roll 52 away from the end in the strip traveling direction when the strip 50 is in contact with the roll 52, and an excess paint recovery means consisting of a receiving plate 2, a trough 3, a receiving pipe 4, etc., is arranged below the strip 50 opposed to the nozzle.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
