COMPOUND FOR CONTROLLING SOCIAL INSECT AND ITS METHOD

PURPOSE: To obtain an insecticidal formulation for destroying populations of social or colony-forming insects in their nest. CONSTITUTION: This insecticidal formulation contains 4-ethoxyphenyl-[3-(4- fluoro-3-phenoxyphenyl)propyl]dimethylsilane (=silafluofen) and a suitable carrier, in which a content of the silafluofen is the amount giving acutely sublethal doses to the individual group eating the formulation, that is, 0.0002-0.25 wt.%, especially 0.003-0.007 wt.%. As the carrier, a food derived from a plant or an animal, especially a part of the plant is used and furthermore, a gelling agent of insects-attracting component is mixed to the formulation. The formulation is set on a place where insects can approach and frequently appear, and the individually taken groups are destroyed after a time lag that the insects take the formulation, carry the formulation into their nest and occasionally feed to the other individuals.
