WATER-SOLUBLE BETA-1,3-GLUCAN DERIVATIVE AND ANTIVIRAL AGENT CONTAINING THE DERIVATIVE

PURPOSE: To obtain an agent containing a water-soluble β-glucan derivative having hydroxyl group modified by the reaction with glycidol, developing excellent antiviral activity and extremely low toxicity and having excellent safety and prolonged drug action. ;CONSTITUTION: This water-soluble β-1,3-glucan derivative is a compound produced by modifying hydroxyl group of β-1,3-glucan with glycidol (excluding water-soluble paramylon derivative obtained by modifying the hydroxyl group of paramylon with glycidol and having a 6-site substitution degree of 25%). Curdlan is used as the glucan. The derivative is used as an antiviral agent (excluding the antiviral agent containing the paramylon having a hydroxyl group modified by reacting 1 pt.wt. of paramylon with 3.5-4.5 pts.wt. of glycidol). The reaction of the glucan with glycidol is carried out at an alkali concentration of 0.1-5N at 40-100°C and the water solubility of the derivative is preferably ≥0.1%W/W.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
