PURPOSE: To obviate the necessity of a large furnace and conduct efficient heating by placing a prepreg with a tube inserted in its hollow part in a mold for internal pressure molding, applying internal pressure to the tube to press the prepreg on the mold for conducting zone heating, moving the heating zone while the resin in the zone being melted. ;CONSTITUTION: A prepreg 1 is made by double weaving of tow blended with reinforcing fibers and matrix fibers, and a tube 2 is inserted in its hollow part 5. The prepreg 1 is placed in a mold 3, and hot fluid is introduced into the tube 2 to expand it so that the prepreg is pressed on the mold 3. When an induction heater 4 surrounding the mold is moved from one end of the mold 3 to the other end, the matrix fibers in a part 1a of the prepreg which is in the heating zone are melted; the molten fibers are pressed on the mold by the tube 2 so that the reinforcing fibers are impregnated with the resin of the molten fibers. Air contained in the prepreg is expelled to an unheated part 1b, while the resin in a part 1c through which the induction heater 4 has passed is solidified by cooling to make FRTP.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO
