PURPOSE: To prepare a high performance alumina magnesia silica-type catalyst carrier with various outstanding properties easily and advantageously by mixing raw alumina material with raw magnesia material previously, then adding raw silica material to this mixture followed by spray-drying. ;CONSTITUTION: When preparing a composition for a catalyst carrier, a first raw alumina material and a raw magnesia material are mixed, and a raw silica material is added to this mixture to make the mixture sufficiently uniform. Next, this mixture is processed into a slurry and this slurry is spray-dried. Consequently, a catalyst carrier is prepared that has outstanding strength and heat resistance, and adequate acid-base properties, and well-dispersedly an active metal component stably. This catalyst carrier is superior in terms of abrasion resistance, strength, heat resistance and steam resistance, and is durable and has adequete acid-base properties.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
