PURPOSE: To provide a displaying and proofreading technique of a character recognizing device which is capable of improving the efficiency in the confirmation work of a recognition error and improving the operability in the correction work of an indefinite recognized character and the correction work for the same recognition error, in the displaying and proofreading thereof of the recognized character. ;CONSTITUTION: This device is a character recognizing device converting from original image data into character code data and is composed of an input controller 1, an image input device 2, a processor 3, a display controller 4, a memory 5 and a disk device 6, etc., and these are connected by a data bus 7. In the memory 5, a format analysis program 12, a character recognition program 13 and a recognition character display program 14, etc., are stored, and further, an image information table 15, a display information table 16 and a character code conversion table 17, etc., are provided.
