PURPOSE:To measure roughness inside a long slender pipe, in a nondestructive manner. CONSTITUTION:A laser beam which is incident on one end of a slender pipe 2 is converged once on the central line of the slender pipe 2, it is then diffused again, the polarizing direction of the beam which is incident on one end of the slender pipe 2 is set so as to be at 90 deg. with reference to a reflecting face or in a direction close to it, the laser beam which is reflected in a multiple manner inside the slender pipe 2 and which is radiated is condensed on a photodetector 40 by a condensing lens 30, and a signal processing circuit 50 finds the inside roughness of the slender pipe 2 on the basis of the intensity of the radiated beam which is measured by the photodetector 40. By this constitution, the inside roughness of the slender pipe 2 which is long can be inspected in a nondestructive manner.
