PURPOSE: To prevent inclination of a cylinder block owing to bending of a rotary shaft and to improve lubricating ability by a method wherein crowning in the direction of a rotary shaft is formed on the spline of the rotary shaft engaged with the cylinder block of a swash plate type piston pump motor. ;CONSTITUTION: When a cylinder block 4 is rotated through a rotary shaft 2, pump operation by which fluid is delivered through a valve plate 9 is generated through reciprocating movement of a piston 5. When fluid is fed through a piping 12 to a cylinder block 4, on the other hand, motor operation by which the rotary shaft 2 is rotated through a swash plate 8 is generated through reciprocating movement of the piston 5. In a so formed hydraulic machine, crowning 16 is formed on the addendum of the spline 3 of the rotary shaft 2. The crowning 16 has a central point C on a surface B, passing through an intersection O and extending at right angles with an axial line 13, and is formed in an arc of a circle in the direction of the rotary shaft 2.
