PURPOSE: To measure the dose equivalent at a specified depth without requiring any correction by employing a phosphor composed of lithium borate added with specified quantity of lead, tin, or lanthanoid based element or an intermetallic compound thereof. ;CONSTITUTION: Lithium borate is admixed with 1wt.% or less of lead, tin, or lanthanoid based element, or an intermetallic compound or oxide thereof and heated at 900±20°C for 60±10min. Since the effective atomic number of lithium borate phosphor for measuring the dose increases, the probability of photoelectric effect increases even for a low energy radiation, i.e., a photon beam, thus enhancing the sensitivity. Consequently, the dose equivalent at the depth of 1cm can be measured accurately even for low energy radiation and the correction is not required for every measurement.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
