PURPOSE: To discriminate whether a plowed field surface condition is a hard surface or a weak surface by a detecting mechanism by detecting a rotational change in front wheels when a moving vehicle travels in a 'rear wheel two wheel drive condition C' by disengaging a speed increasing clutch after a short time from when the moving vehicle travels in a 'front wheel speed increasing four-wheel drive condition D' by throwing in the speed increasing clutch. ;CONSTITUTION: Signals of respective sensors 9, 10, 11 and 12 of rear shaft rotation, front shaft rotation, a steering angle and engine revolution are inputted to a CPU 13, and a traveling plowed field surface condition is detected by a detecting mechanism besides 'turning control', 'rectilinear movement control', 'full turn control' and the like are carried out. That is, even if indication of a 'front wheel speed increasing four-wheel drive condition D' to throw in a speed increasing clutch 8 is given under control of the 'full turn control' from the 'turning control', detection by a detecting function is carried out, and a moving vehicle is controlled in a driving condition in response to a ground surface condition. Thereby, when the condition is a dry ground surface, the ground surface is not damaged by turning in a 'rear wheel two-wheel drive condition C', and when the condition is a weak ground surface, turning performance is improved in the 'front wheel speed increasing four-wheel drive condition D', so that travel driving transmission efficiency can be improved.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
