METHOD AND DEVICE FOR JUDGING QUALITY OF CHARACTER

PURPOSE: To judge the quality of characters to be judged by ANDing the picture data of a lined reference character and the picture data of the character to be judged and judging whether or not subtraction output for which ANDed output is subtracted from the picture data of the lined reference character and the thickness of the image picked up picture of the character to be judged are within a prescribed range. ;CONSTITUTION: Data for the line display of a reference character corresponding to the character to be judged are stored in a reference character data information memory 31 and a division number judging circuit 33 judges whether or not the division number of the character to be judged coincides with the division number of the corresponding reference character. A comparator circuit 37 ANDs the picture of the character to be judged and the picture of the reference character and is composed of a subtraction means for subtracting the ANDed output from the picture of the reference character and a difference judging circuit 38 judges whether or not the output of the comparator circuit 37 is within an allowable range. A thickness judging circuit 39 judges whether or not the thickness of the character to be judged is within the prescribed range.
