The invention relates to an opto-electronic apparatus (10) having a coaxial module comprising a first container (2) mounted thereon, and a second container (6) in which, respectively, a hermetic from the environment outside the module (1) closed opto- electronic component (3), preferably a semiconductor diode laser (3), and thereon an aligned optical fiber (7) are present. Such a module (1) constitutes a reliable and effective component-glass fiber coupling and is very suitable for use in optical glass fiber communication systems. Also, the invention relates to a method of manufacturing such a device (10).
