The natural sample of milk is diluted with distilled water in a volume ratio of 1:2, 1:3 and 1:4, then 1 volume part of reaction mixture is added to each dilution, containing 10.0 mmol diacetyl monoxime, 1.8 mmoles thiosemicarbazide, 1.8 mmoles sulphuric acid and 50.0 μmoles ferrous ammonium salt of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid in 1 litre of aqueous solution, the samples are heated in boiling water for 10 minutes, cooled quickly and visually assessed in terms of the resulting colouring of individual samples.
