The detachable link includes at least two lateral plates detachably connected to each other by two transversal bolt-like units forming hinge pins with adjacent elements of the chain, and a support means (28) attached to the link plates and bearing cutting means. Each plate is substantially Z-shaped and has two substantially parallel sections which are offset in relation to each other and which are connected by a middle transversal section, so that when said link is in its assembled state, the two inner sections closest to the two plates are adapted to be inserted between the two outer sections furthest from the plates of an adjacent link. The use of this link in endless cutting or kerfing chains is also described, for instance chains of trench-digging machines.
