Welding inspection system - uses two cameras to automatically detect contamination in weld and record light line formed by reflection of light beam

The system detects surface defects and contamination in a weld (1) between two objects (2,3). One camera automatically detects contamination in the weld and components check that the contamination is within a predetermined limit interval. A light source (21) generates a light beam (23) which is arranged so that it is incident on the weld and part of the surrounding surface at a specific angle relative to the second camera (20) optical axis. The second camera (20) records a light line (24) formed by the light beam reflection. A unit checks that a possible deviation (25) in the light line is within a preset limit interval. A third camera (26) records any parallelism fault. Additional units check that any parallelism fault is less than a preset limit value.
