Product for the paper and board industry, characterized in that it consists essentially of the combination of the following parts: - a thin backing of fibrous material, woven and/or nonwoven, permeable to fluids and optionally at least partly soaked in glue; and - on the said backing, a layer of paper-compatible fibres that are optionally permeable to the fluids and optionally, at least partly, soaked in glue. The invention also extends to the process for preparing the product and to a method for reinforcing archival or library documents employing the product, whether ready- prepared or prepared at the time of use.
