This invention relates to a process for the preparation of L-α-glyceryl phosphoryl choline by the reaction of (+)-1-2-isopropylidene-glycerol tosylate with choline phosphate in the form of an alkali metal salt or tetramethyl ammonium salt in polar solvent and subsequent acid hydrolysis of the ketal group.
