The present electromechanical unit is for modifying the surface of a copper or other round bar, by producing parallel grooves of suitable dimensions on its surface, which is done purely by roll-forming and without removal of material. A coating of gold of suitable thickness will then be crimped into the defining grooves and drawn together with the inner core in order to reduce the diameter of the two together to the predetermined dimension. The formation of the longitudinal grooves by roll-forming brings about a significant and advantageous lengthening of the material, and therefore an increased output of the product. IMAGE
