The subject of the present Industrial Invention is a barrier for protection against infrared rays with "positive safety", comprising at least one emitter of infrared rays, fitted in a transmitter unit, and at least one detector for these rays, placed in a receiver unit, characterised by the fact that it creates a protective field, formed from at least one surface essentially with a fan and including means for preventing and/or indicating a failure of its electronic components and means for protecting the barrier from external influences that could degrade the protective function.
