A pharmaceutical or dietary composition having vigorous antioxidant activity which is particularly suitable for the prevention and/or treatment of cardiovascular and/or liver diseases, characterised by containing a) a coenzyme Q, b) ascorbic acid and c) succinic acid or its bioprecursor, has an appreciably superior effect in comparison with the sum of the individual components as demonstrated by tests on peroxidation processes of the liver and myocardial tissue of rats subjected to a dietary regimen deficient in vitamin E and selenium, and on the peroxidation processes of serum LDL in rats subjected to the said regimen.
