A METHOD OF ANTI-POLLUTION TREATMENT AND RECOVERY OF METALS IS DESCRIBED FOR A USED REFINED CATALYST CONTAINING AT LEAST ONE POLLUTED METAL CHOSEN IN THE GROUP MADE OF VANADIUM, NICKEL AND IRON. THE PROCESS OF THE PRESENT INVENTION IS CHARACTERIZED IN PARTICULAR IN THAT: A) THE CATALYST DISCHARGED FROM THE INDUSTRIAL UNIT IS SUBJECTED TO DELINGOTATION; B) THE DELINGOTED CATALYST IS CALCINATED IN THE CRITICAL CONDITIONS; C) THE CALCINATED CATALYST RECEIVES A HEAT TREATMENT IN THE PRESENCE OF AN ALKALINE BASE IN A MELTED STATE, D) THE SOLID MASS RESULTING FROM STAGE C) IS TREATED BY WATER. THE PROCESS APPLIES TO AN ANTI-POLLUTION TREATMENT AND RECOVERY OF THE METALS OF THE CATALYSTS USED IN PARTICULAR OF THE CATALYSTS OF HYDROTREATMENT OR HYDROCONVERSION OF AN OIL LOAD.
