THE INVENTION REFERS TO A CATALYST FOR CHEMICAL AND PETROCHEMICAL REACTIONS AND ITS MANUFACTURING PROCESS. THE CATALYST INCLUDES AN OXIDE OF THE TRANSITIONAL METALS, OF THE RARE EARTHS, OR OF A ACTINIDE, OF MOLYBDENUM FOR EXAMPLE, WHICH INCLUDES IN SURFACE CARBIDE AND OXYCARBONS, THE NUCLEUS MAY BE METAL OR OXIDE. THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS CONSISTS OF PUTTING ON THE OXIDE THE GASEOUS REACTION MIXTURE CONTAINING CARBON PRODUCTS WHICH WANT TO PERFORM THE CATALYTIC CHEMICAL TRANSFORMATION AT THE TEMPERATURE OF THIS REACTION. THE CARBON PRODUCTS PRESENT IN THE MIXTURE CAUSE A PROGRESSIVE CARBURATION OF THE OXIDE SURFACE AND A PROGRESSIVE INCREASE IN THE EFFICIENCY OF THE CATALYST. THE PROCESS APPLIES IN PARTICULAR IN THE REFORM OF OIL FOR WHICH MOLYBDENO MOO3 OXIDE CONSTITUTES A PREFERRED CATALYST.
