The protection system comprises a magnesium or zinc sacrifical anode on which all the corrosion of the metal structure connected to it, for example the exhaust pipe and the catalytic converter, is concentrated, a copper cable embedded in the anode and connected at the opposite end to one of the shackles securing the exhaust pipe to the bodywork so that there is electrical continuity between all the connected elements. The system is used to guarantee the service life of the exhaust pipe and catalytic converter throughout the service life of the vehicle with no need for the replacement of said parts, protecting them against corrosion.
