The filament is a sheath-core composite fila-ment comprising a sheath of a fiber-forming thermoplasticpolymer (A) and a core of a composition (B) comprising aconductive material which comprises a conductive metaloxide(s) and a thermoplastic polyamide, having a coreresistance of not more than 9 x 1010.OMEGA. /cm-filament, andmaintaining a critical elongation --- an elongation reachedin the course of extending a composite filament at which thecore resistance exceeds 1 x 1011 .OMEGA. /cm-filament at a D.C.voltage of 1 kV --- of at least 5% and a shrinkage in hotwater at 100°C of not higher than 20%. Such fiber can beobtained by conducting high orientation melt spinning at atleast 2,500 m/min while selecting a polyamide as the corecomponent to contain the white or colorless conductivematerial and having the composition previously dried to amoisture content of 100 to 1,200 ppm.-34-
