There is provided an improved light receiving memberfor electrophotography which is made up of an aluminumsupport and a multilayered light receiving layerexhibiting photoconductivity formed on said aluminumsupport, wherein said multilayered light receiving layerconsists of a lower layer in contact with said support andan upper layer, said lower layer being made of aninorganic material containing at least aluminum atoms(Al), silicon atoms (Si), and hydrogen atoms (H), andhaving a part in which said aluminum atoms (Al), siliconatoms (Si), and hydrogen atoms (H) are unevenlydistributed across the layer thickness, said upper layerbeing made of a non-single-crystal material composed ofsilicon atoms (Si) as the matrix and at least either ofhydrogen atoms (H) or halogen atoms (X), and containing atleast either of germanium atoms or tin atoms in a layerregion in contact with said lower layer. The lightreceiving member for electrophotography exhibits outstand-ing electric characteristics, optical characteristics,photoconductive characteristics, durability, image charac-teristics, and adaptability to use environments.
