Device for preventing water hammer while regulating waterpressure includes valve-element biasing means whichsubstantially consists of a pressure-adjusting spring with asmall spring constant and a water-hammer preventing springwith a large spring constant which are disposed in series in avalve casing. The valve-element biasing means is capable ofvarying the opening area of a communicating passage whichcommunicates an upstream passage with a downstream passage soas to adjust the pressure in the communicating passage whilepreventing the occurrence of water hammer in pipings and/water supply equipments.
