摘要

The present invention relates to an instrument for observingthe brilliance of jewels, especially of diamonds, and a methodof photographing them with this instrument. The instrumentof this invention is composed of a lower tubular portion compris-ing a non-transparent material and an upper tubular portioncomprising a semi-transparent material, and a magnifying observ-ation lens can be furnished on the upper end part of said uppertuhular portion in accordance with using purposes of the instru-ment. The semi-transparent upper tubular portion can moveslidably with respect to the lower tubular portion. The diamondis positioned on a placing part within the lower tubular portion,and an observer studies it from the upper end part of the uppertubular portion. According to this instrument, the semi-trans-parent upper tubular portion adjusts appropriately the lightdirecting to the diamond, and as a result, it is possible toobserve characteristic patterns corresponding to the diamondbrilliance. Further, the photographing method of this invnetionis to take photographs of diamonds within the lower tubularportion with a camera from the upper side of the upper tubularportion of the instrument, and it serves to judge the diamondbrilliance more clearly than the conventional photographs ofdiamonds.
