Each design component in this steel building system is essential to the overall performance of the completed structure. The double wall system with the outer studs attached to the main floor joists and the inner wall placed on top of the subfloor makes for structural integrity superior to that of wood frame designs. The stacked floor joist design, dual wall design and the separation of the walls at the top allows the urethane foam insulation to completely envelop the structure. The thermal break and vapor barrier created by this design exceeds the R2000 residential standards set out in Canada. The use of light gauge steel under the floor system and as a joist header allows the structure to be placed on blocks without threat from insects and rodents. The floor joist design allows the furnace to be placed anywhere on the subfloor of the structure and the absence of ductwork allows vents to be cut anywhere on that same floor. The result is increased mechanical freedom, a warm floor and increased air flow pressure.
