JOINT ORTHESIS, IN PARTICULAR KNEE ORTHESIS

The present invention is a joint orthesis, in particular a knee orthesis, for the conservative treatment of ligament injuries and to provide post-operative support of joint function, in particular to protect ligaments by restricting movement such as extreme bending or stretching. The proposed joint orthesis is provided with a bandage which surrounds the joint and is elastic at least in sections, and which firmly surrounds the mobile elements in the vicinity of the joint and thereby immobilises them. The bandage is provided with an integral pocket or cavity system in particular sections of the orthesis by which the joint orthesis (co-operating, optionally, with tension or pressure stabilisers provided at appropriate points), can be stabilized once it has been applied to the joint and once the pockets have been stiffened, in such a way that the joint cannot bend or stretch through certain angles without the orthesis taking the strain.
