Date Dec. 13, 1990.A method and device for improving the printing performance of electrographic printers, in which a latent electrical charge pattern of electric signals is produced by an electrode matrix or the like, which temporarily produces electrical fields for attraction of pigment particles toward an information carrier. The electrodes of the electrode matrix are exposed, during at least a portion of the time between the printing of subsequent paper sheets, to a cleaning force which removes the pigment particles from the electrode matrix.
