The method involves connecting a double bipolar cardiac stimulator (1) to a myocardium (2) via ventricular and auricular probes (3, 4). The auricular probe (4) has a Y junction giving access to the right and left auricles such that signals are sent and received to and from both. The transmission of signals between auricles may give the appearance of a very high auricular frequency (14, 15) causing ventricular desynchronisation in the fall back mode. To prevent this the time between auricular signals is measured and if greater than a preset value corresponding to the inter-auricular delay resynchronisation is initiated. IMAGE
