Cable management system with service and user line test function

The cable management system provides a route for the connection service between the service line 16 and the user line 18. [ Each service line enters the cable system from a service provision unit circuit card 22 having a portion of the crosspoint switch matrix 126. Each user line enters the system from the line termination unit circuit card 20. All of the service termination unit circuit cards are mounted on the connector 36 on the first side of the centerplane board 24 and all of the line termination unit circuit cards are mounted on the connector 36 on the other side of the centerplane board. A pin 37 extending through the centerplane board interconnects the connectors on opposite sides of the center train board so that any service line can be connected to any user line. The system controller card 26 mounted on the centerplane board communicates with the circuit card via the bus 38 on the centerplane board. Each termination unit circuit card has test port connectors 204 and 252 for communicating with the line tester 228 and switch banks 206 and 254 for selectively connecting each line on the card to the test port connector. Line testers can be made as portable units or permanently installed on a part of the cable management system.
