The present invention relates to a refractory oxide-bonded particulate (e.g., zeolite) composition having low acidity, such as a zirconia-bonded zeolite beta, wherein the molecular sieve composition of the present invention has excellent physical properties I have. The invention also relates to a process for the preparation thereof. Refractory oxide-bound catalysts with low acidity are less active than alumina-bonded zeolite catalysts, particularly useful in hydrocarbon conversion processes, thereby reducing coke production and increasing catalyst cycle. Since the catalyst of the present invention is stable in an acid environment, the refractory oxide-bonded molecular sieve extrudate having a low acidity of the present invention can be acid-treated without impairing its structural preservability.
