FIELD: powder metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method includes the following processes: the preparation of exothermic mixture of powders of the transition metal and aluminium, self-propagating high-temperature synthesis and hot deformation of the synthesis products. The essential point of the method lies in the fact that at least one reinforcing agent chosen from the group of carbides, oxides, borides, nitrides is additionally introduced into the exothermic mixture. The mixture itself is made of aluminium and the volume-alloyed compound powder containing the reinforcing agent at the amount of 2-30% of the volume and the rest part is the transition metal. The author makes a proposal to produce the volume-alloyed compound powder by rolling, or by mechanical stirring in the high-energy mill of the mixture of powders of the transition metal and the reinforcing agent, or by dispersing the molten melt consisting of the transition metal and the reinforcing agent, pr by joint precipitation from the solutions (melts) of salt or metal-organic compounds of the transition metal and the reinforcing agent. The method allows to obtain the aluminides of transition metals with the uniform distribution of the reinforcing agent along the whole volume and refers to the methods of obtaining intermetallic composite materials.
