FIELD: textile industry. SUBSTANCE: aqueous solution has, g/l: sodium hydroxide 190-240; potassium carbonate 19-21, and water up to 1 l. Solution is prepared by mixing components at the room temperature. Solution properties: relative viscosity does not change for 72 h working mercerization machine and it is 1.5. Without potassium carbonate this value is increased up to 2.2 and 3.2 after 4 and 6 h, respectively. Properties of mercerizated cloth: barite number is 145-148; rupture strength of cloth by warp is 339.1-340.0 and that by weft is 432.5-433.2 H. EFFECT: enhanced quality of liquid. 1 tbl
