Flush runway light having a housing which consists of a lower housing part and a housing lid, for roads (streets), airports or other traffic areas, for generating at least one light bundle whose lower limit emerges from a light outlet body, arranged in the housing lid, at a small angle relative to the surface of the ground. On that side of the light outlet body which faces the interior space of the housing there is arranged the light outlet surface of an optical fibre (optical waveguide) of predetermined length into whose light inlet surfaces the light of a light source enters, which light source is provided in a spatially distant manner at a predetermined distance from the flush runway light. To avoid complicated assembly and laborious (tedious) alignment of the individual components, provision is made for a fibre-optical cross-section converter to be arranged in the optical waveguide cable in the interior housing, formed by the lower housing part and the housing lid, of the flush runway light, the round cross-sectional end of which cross-section converter is passed to the light source and the elongate oval cross-sectional end of which is fastened on the light outlet body. The fibre-optical cross-section converter has a rotatable optical-fibre connection whose axis of rotation is approximately in the rotational axis of the housing lid. IMAGE
