The invention relates to a method for cleaning tablet, pill or granule packing machines, in particular of rotary tabletting presses, having at least one treatment chamber which encloses the rotor. In order to ensure complete removal of remaining liquid from the treatment chamber and of the components remaining in the latter, in particular of the rotor of a rotary tabletting press, while using a small amount of cleaning and rinsing liquid, a cleaning and a rinsing agent are successively sprayed within the treatment chamber and are sucked off again. Then all the apertures of the treatment chamber are sealed and a low pressure region of about 0.1 to 0.2 bar of absolute pressure is created inside the treatment chamber, which is now encapsulated.
