An adjustable counterweight for a construction machine is proposed which can be shifted from an operative position on the construction-machine side into an inoperative position by at least one actuating element. The counterweight can be moved away from the construction machine on a predeterminable curved path and can be secured at predeterminable positions in the course of the curved path.
