Fast processing of local constraints used in networks in artificial intelligence research

The formation of constraint nets are implemented in hardware as local constraint elements. The local constraints operate between 'M' discrete or continuous variables. The circuit has the 'M' local variables as inputs (VkE) with a similar number (VkA) as outputs. An additional function can be included (AL) that indicates if the output variable is to be changed. An optional input (S) can be used to change the operating mode. All signals are bus-coupled.
