For the disinfection of waste, esp. from hospitals and clinics etc., the containers of - one autoclave (12) are filled with the waste in a vehicle-mounted system, and the containers are closed. The containers are heated through water in the hollow mantle, and a vacuum of up to 150 mbar is applied within the container by a vacuum pump. Steam is fed into the container through a connection valve from the hollow mantle to give an internal container pressure of up to 1100 mbar at a temp. of 70-95 deg C.. The process is repeated, and then the container is heated further by increased valve opening to raise the temp. to 100-140 deg C. and esp. 121 deg C., with a pressure of 1000-3500 mbar and esp. 2200 mbar. The waste is disinfected and sterilised at the temps. and pressures for a given time span, and the pressure is reduced to about 1100 mbar. Air and/or vapour from the container is passed to sterile filters (28). Also claimed is a vehicle (10) with the systems to carry and process the containers in - one autoclave (12).
